(LVDE) – A partnership agreement aimed at modernizing water bill payments was signed on November 14, 2025, in Yaoundé between the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (Camwater) and the Cameroon Postal Services (Campost). This innovative project, which integrates digital solutions, promises to simplify and secure the payment process for subscribers.
The landscape of public utility payments in Cameroon is about to undergo a major transformation. On November 14, 2025, in Yaoundé, the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (Camwater) and the Cameroon Postal Services (Campost) signed a partnership agreement marking the beginning of a new era in the water bill settlement process. The initiative, formalized through the signatures of Blaise Moussa, General Manager of Camwater, and Pierre Kaldadak, General Manager of Campost, represents a significant step toward the digitalization of public services.
At the core of this collaboration is Campost Money (Camo), the electronic wallet that stands as the flagship solution enabling subscribers to pay their water bills quickly, securely, and without the need for physical travel. This change in payment methods aims to modernize long-standing traditional practices while reducing the long queues observed in physical branches. The specific details of this payment system will be communicated to subscribers in the coming days, ensuring a smooth and well-supported transition to the new method.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to leveraging digital tools to enhance the experience of our subscribers,” said Blaise Moussa during the signing ceremony. His enthusiasm underscores Camwater’s ambition to be at the forefront of modernizing public services, in response to the growing demand for more accessible and efficient solutions.
Pierre Kaldadak also expressed satisfaction with this initiative, emphasizing that it represents a crucial step in diversifying Campost’s activities. “This collaboration allows us to bring digital financial services closer to the population, including those in the most remote areas,” he noted. This partnership goes beyond Camwater and Campost; it is also part of the broader national vision of digitalizing public services.
With its 650,000 subscribers in 2023, Camwater is positioning itself as a key player in this transition to digital solutions. By facilitating digital payments, the company aims to make the billing process more efficient and improve customer satisfaction. This digital shift not only meets the expectations of modern users but also aligns with the goals of the Cameroonian government, which advocates for a more connected society.
This progress is all the more crucial in light of the challenges related to electrification and access to basic services in a country where many regions remain underdeveloped. By integrating digital solutions, Camwater and Campost are paving the way for more efficient management of water resources and greater respect for consumer rights.
Digital transformation in the public sector is also synonymous with transparency and accountability. By digitalizing bill payments, Camwater aims to reduce fraud risks and improve transaction traceability—two issues that have long posed challenges for public enterprises in Cameroon.
Finally, this initiative marks an important step toward broader modernization of service infrastructure in Cameroon. Through this partnership, Camwater and Campost are not only adopting innovations but also shaping an era where easier access to basic services could transform the daily lives of Cameroonians and, by extension, the country’s economic development. In the coming months, this collaboration could inspire similar initiatives and durably transform the public service landscape in Cameroon.
