Asphalt concrete paving works on the Maroua–Bogo–Pouss road
On the ground, activity is intensifying along the Maroua–Bogo–Guirvidig corridor. After the completion of the 32.860 km main carriageway and 5 km of urban roads in Bogo, CGCOC Group is now entering the final phase of the project: the application of asphalt concrete, a key step for the long-term durability of the infrastructure.
Lot 1 also includes 6.2 km of urban roads in Maroua, where teams are continuing paving operations. According to technical data as of 16 May 2026, the works show completion rates of 88.90% for earthworks, 87.49% for the carriageway, and 63.84% for drainage structures. Overall progress stands at 78.48%, while time consumption under the contract reaches 95.31%.
In a challenging climatic context marked by the imminent rainy season in the Far North, CGCOC Group has stepped up operations to complete asphalt surfacing before weather conditions deteriorate. Work pace on site remains sustained in order to avoid any delays that could affect the execution schedule.
This structuring project, supervised by the Ministry of Public Works, is part of Cameroon’s national strategy to open up its northern regions. The Maroua–Bogo–Pouss corridor is considered strategic for the transport of goods and people, particularly in the region’s agricultural and commercial basins.
Meanwhile, Lot 2, awarded to XCCG Xinjiang Communication Consulting Group, is progressing at a slower pace, with an overall completion rate of 41.32%, affected by financial and logistical constraints. This gap highlights the differences in performance among contractors working on the same road corridor.
Ultimately, the authorities aim to deliver an infrastructure capable of strengthening regional connectivity and supporting local economic development in an area where road networks remain a key driver of socio-economic activity.
