On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Mbalmayo came alive with the ALL Connected Challenge Olympiads, a unique program organized by the Orange Foundation Cameroon in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages. Targeting vulnerable children aged 3 to 18, this second phase brought together nearly 400 participants, including 250 children, 145 young athletes, and around 100 parents, for a full day of sports, games, and educational activities. The event, attended by Gilles-Christian Sadi, Prefect of Nyong-et-So’o, was designed to raise awareness among youth and their families about the challenges of the digital age, while also promoting socialization and the psychological well-being of children.
The ALL Connected Challenge builds on the Orange Foundation’s CSR initiatives, first introduced in 2024 with the ForGoodConnections program, which aimed to raise awareness about responsible technology use. By combining sports, educational workshops, and entertainment, the foundation addresses essential needs: filling the gap in structured recreational activities, fostering social interaction, promoting community integration, and strengthening educational and civic guidance.
During the event, children took part in interactive games and workshops designed to help them better understand the risks associated with digital usage, including cyberbullying, screen addiction, and exposure to inappropriate content. Discussions with parents highlighted the importance of their role in guiding young people and strengthened family bonds around digital issues. According to the Prefect, “It is about giving children meaningful experiences with new digital tools while encouraging good practices.”
The program’s success relies on a collaborative model. Activities are jointly led by Orange Cameroon volunteers and SOS Children’s Villages staff, in close coordination with local authorities. This partnership ensures both the quality of interventions and the long-term impact, by involving communities in managing activities and fostering digital citizenship.
Beyond Mbalmayo, the ALL Connected Challenge is being rolled out across all Orange Africa and Middle East countries as part of a regional strategy to promote healthy and responsible digital habits. The Orange Foundation reaffirms its role as a committed leader, capable of combining social responsibility, educational innovation, and social inclusion. The Olympiads represent a modern approach to digital education, placing children’s well-being at the center while engaging families, teachers, and local stakeholders with a common goal: preparing young people to navigate a connected world safely.
Through this program, the Orange Foundation demonstrates that businesses can be key actors in social and educational development while creating a playful environment that promotes children’s growth, community cohesion, and resilience in the face of digital challenges. In Mbalmayo, as in other cities covered by the program, the tangible impact is already evident in the enthusiastic participation of youth and the increased awareness among families about the need for thoughtful and safe digital tool usage.
