Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, Minister of Public Works
(LVDE) – During a consultation meeting held on October 22, 2025, the Minister of Public Works called on the company in charge of the works to ensure continuous traffic flow, particularly during the rainy season, while improving coordination with the technical design offices.
On October 22, 2025, a key meeting was chaired by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, to assess progress on the Bafang–Nkondjock road project. The contractor, Cetp Sarl, was urged to maintain traffic continuity despite the difficult weather conditions of the rainy season. The meeting also brought together representatives of the technical study consortium, composed of Ingenierie Conseil and Arsuk Sarl, to strengthen coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project.
Discussions focused on the project’s progress. The first phase, which involved the construction of hydraulic structures and the rehabilitation of the road platform, has been fully completed and officially received. This phase was essential in preparing the ground for the next stage.
Currently, Cetp Sarl is working on Phase 2, which has reached a physical completion rate of 52.82%, while 54.17% of the scheduled time has already elapsed. This stage is particularly sensitive due to the heavy rains that can disrupt traffic flow. The Minister stressed that bad weather should in no case lead to a halt in construction. He issued clear instructions to the company to maintain consistent on-site mobilization, closely monitor critical sections, and ensure the proper functioning of rain barriers.
In addition, recommendations were made to protect existing Camwater infrastructure along certain sections, in order to guarantee the effective execution of the works. This measure aims not only to safeguard the water networks but also to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
The Administrator of the Road Fund also reassured Cetp Sarl and the Supervision Mission that the three payment certificates issued would be covered. He specified that the necessary funds would be mobilized as soon as possible, thus supporting the project team’s momentum. This commitment is a key factor in maintaining team morale on-site and ensuring smooth project execution.
The Bafang–Nkondjock road project is of vital importance for the region. By improving access to surrounding communities, it will promote economic and social development. Once completed, this road infrastructure will facilitate the transport of goods and people while boosting trade between different localities.
Authorities remain optimistic about the completion of this major project, which is expected to significantly improve living conditions for local populations. The continued mobilization of Cetp Sarl and effective coordination with the technical study teams will be decisive for the success of this initiative.
