(LVDE) – The visit to Africa Global Logistics (AGL) facilities at the Port of Kribi, organized by the Union of Francophone Press (UPF) on September 12, 2025, offered journalists the opportunity to discover the essential role AGL plays in the economic development of Cameroon and the sub-region.
The Union of Francophone Press (UPF) recently toured Africa Global Logistics (AGL) facilities at the Port of Kribi. This field mission enabled journalists to better understand the crucial role of AGL in driving economic growth in Cameroon and across the sub-region.
On September 12, 2025, a delegation from the Littoral branch of UPF, led by its president Dipita TONGO, immersed themselves in the world of AGL at the Port of Kribi. This experience allowed 34 journalists, representing a variety of media outlets, to gain deeper insight into the operational realities of AGL and Kribi Conteneurs Terminal (KCT).
Upon their arrival at the Kribi Logistics Hub (KLH), the journalists were warmly welcomed by Honorine MAGNE FOWO, Director of Development in Kribi. This stop highlighted cotton storage operations as well as the ongoing expansion works, marking phase two of the project. Newly acquired equipment designed to optimize operations was also presented, reflecting AGL’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure to better serve clients.
The visit then continued at Kribi Conteneurs Terminal, where the journalists learned about KCT’s ambitions to reach an impressive annual volume of 1,000,000 TEUs handled. Welcomed by Managing Director David AZRA and his team, the UPF members toured the Control Room—the nerve center of port operations. Bertrand Lacroux, Operations Director, guided the delegation through the yard, offering a fascinating glimpse into the logistics processes at work.
This immersion gave journalists a clearer understanding of the synergy between AGL and the terminal, as well as the significant impact these facilities have on the economic growth of Cameroon and the wider sub-region. The strategic importance of Kribi as a key hub for regional trade was underlined throughout the visit.
As Africa’s leading multimodal logistics operator, AGL stands out as a key player in maritime transport and logistics. A subsidiary of MSC Group, the global leader in the sector, AGL draws on over a century of expertise and employs more than 23,000 people across 49 countries. In the Gulf of Guinea alone, AGL employs 3,700 staff spread across four countries: Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea.
With a focus on comprehensive, customized, and innovative logistics solutions, AGL aims to contribute sustainably to Africa’s transformation. Its presence also extends to countries such as Haiti and Timor-Leste, underscoring its commitment to supporting global logistics development.
At the end of the day, the UPF Littoral journalists left with valuable insights and a deeper understanding of the logistics challenges in Cameroon. The immersion not only enhanced their knowledge of AGL’s operations but also emphasized the vital role of these infrastructures in the country’s and the region’s economic dynamism. Beyond mere facilities, what emerges is a genuine development project—one that promises a brighter economic future for Cameroon and its neighbors.
