(lavoixdesentreprises.info) – The Cameroonian subsidiary of the Moroccan Attijariwafa Bank (SCB) and the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) join to foster students qualities and professional skills required for access to stable jobs in the banking sector. This follows an agreement signed on July 10, 2023.
The two parties represented by Madeleine Koum, Deputy Director General (DGA) of SCB Cameroon and Abbé Pr Jean Bertrand Salla, Rector of UCAC intend to facilitate employment to students of this university after a long wait of 26 years.
This will take effect through the practical and professional training of candidates with a view to obtaining master’s degrees; the validation of experience acquired or the conversion of professional certifications into equivalent degrees; the implementation of the CSR policy (corporate social responsibility) of the bank.
In the same vein, this partnership aims to develop students’ qualities and professional skills required for access to stable jobs within the banking institution. “The convention will develop master classes. We will be able to exchange with the students of the Catholic University on current topics. We will also have to receive Ucac students on academic or professional internships, so that they can defend their thesis. Those who will give us satisfaction will be able to benefit from permanent employment contracts,” reassured Madeleine Koum, DDG of SCB Cameroon.
This agreement is a boost for the Catholic University, according to the Rector. To him, students of banking, finance and accounting department will benefit of master classes (editor’s note) from experts in the field each year start. Also within the framework of this partnership, conferences on themes related to entrepreneurship will be organized for the benefit of learners.
This partnership thus consolidates the bank’s ambition in the transformation of the Cameroonian ecosystem. With a capital of 10.5 billion francs, SCB supports a number of projects in Cameroon, including the Moroccan participation in the financing of the modernization, maintenance and operation works of 14 toll stations with a contribution of 15.9 billion, worth 50% of the overall cost of the project estimated at 31.8 billion. The bank also contributed in the operation to finance the construction of the cement and clinker production plant in Figuil for a total cost of 47 billion on behalf of the company Cimenteries du Cameroun (CIMENCAM) in March 2022.
