In Bafoussam and Bangangté, in the West region, excitement is running high. Since April 20, 2025, the two cities have been hosting a new edition of the FENASSCO League A Games, the annual school sports event in Cameroon. Over 2,000 students from across the country are competing in various disciplines, in an atmosphere marked by enthusiasm, competition, and the promotion of young talent. This edition, officially launched at the Lycée Classique de Bafoussam by the Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga, underscores the structuring role of school sports in shaping the nation’s future elite.
At the heart of this momentum, Camtel once again stands out as a key player. The incumbent telecommunications operator is supporting the event as official sponsor, providing significant financial and logistical backing. This contribution has included the provision of equipment to various organizing committees, facilitating coordination and ensuring the smooth running of activities across competition sites.
The public company has also contributed to sustainable initiatives, notably the construction of about ten sanitation blocks at the games venues, as part of the so-called “blue toilets” project. This contribution has been praised as a tangible legacy of the event, in a context where school infrastructure remains a major concern for educational authorities.
Beyond logistics, Camtel is also promoting excellence. Prizes have been planned for the best athletes in each discipline, with the highlight being the Chantal Biya Special Prize awarded to the top three performers during the closing ceremony. The initiative aims to encourage performance and strengthen a culture of merit among young participants.
In an environment where school sports serve as a lever for social integration and talent identification, corporate support proves essential. According to several analyses of the education sector, competitions such as FENASSCO help structure sporting careers from the secondary level while fostering national cohesion.
As the competition continues, Camtel’s commitment continues to draw positive reactions. The Minister of Secondary Education praised the operator’s consistency, highlighting its role in the successful organization of the event. This recognition underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing sports and education in Cameroon.
