(LVDE) – The University of Yaoundé I and Mobile Money Corporation have launched an innovative initiative enabling students to pay their university fees through the application univpay.cm. This move seeks to modernize the payment process and improve financial access to education.
On September 17, 2025, a large awareness campaign was launched on the Nkoa Ekele campus to promote fee payments through the univpay.cm app. Introduced by Alain NONO, CEO of Mobile Money Corporation, the initiative brought together the university’s vice-rector and Mobile Money representatives, marking the beginning of a new era for Cameroonian universities.
The collaboration aims to bring financial services closer to students while reducing the long queues that once caused stress and disorganization. The partnership, sealed during the ceremony, promises a smoother and more secure payment experience, thereby strengthening administrative efficiency on campus.
Professor Nyoya, Vice-Rector, expressed satisfaction with this partnership and its potential to improve financial access to education. He stressed the importance of digitalization, stating: “Digitization is now embedded in our practices.” He added that the collaboration with Mobile Money Corporation represents a significant step forward in enhancing relations between the university and its students, especially regarding fee payments. With a simple click, students can now settle their fees, greatly simplifying the process.
For his part, Alain NONO highlighted the benefits of the univpay.cm platform. According to him, it simplifies students’ daily lives and promotes financial inclusion. “Mobile Money Corporation is a pioneer of mobile financial services in Cameroon. This partnership with the University of Yaoundé I will enable the complete digitalization of the academic process, allowing students to pay their fees in real time and receive a proof of payment recognized by the university,” he stated.

The launch of digital fee payments via MoMo marks a major milestone. Students can now pay their academic fees—whether for pre-registration or full registration—directly from their phones in complete security. They instantly receive a digital receipt, making it easier to track payments.
The advantages for students are numerous. Speed is a major highlight, as fees can be paid instantly without worrying about finding change or standing in long queues. Through a direct link on univpay.cm, students simply enter their matriculation number and complete payment easily, wherever they are—even outside Yaoundé.
Security is also at the core of this initiative, with verifiable digital receipts available at any time. The system provides full transaction traceability, delivering detailed reports per student with information such as name, matriculation number, field of study, and amount paid, thereby reducing the risk of fraud.
The application’s process is simple and user-friendly. The student logs on to https://uy1.univpay.cm, enters their matriculation number, selects the type of fees (pre-registration, partial, or full), and pays via MoMo. A digital receipt is then instantly generated and remains accessible at all times.
This innovation in university fee payments is a significant step toward modernized financial management in higher education. It not only improves the student experience but also strengthens transparency and efficiency within university administration. By simplifying the payment process, the University of Yaoundé I and Mobile Money Corporation are paving the way for a new era of access to education in Cameroon, making the university system more inclusive and accessible to all.
