(LVDE) — MAG SARL is continuing work on the urban boulevard at Douala’s Eastern Gateway, with a strong focus on upgrading key intersections and rehabilitating sidewalks. The objective is to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety while preparing for the next phases of infrastructure development.
On January 14, 2026, the construction site of the Douala Eastern Gateway urban boulevard was showing sustained activity. MAG SARL is concentrating its efforts on critical areas where traffic is heaviest, notably the Rocade Nord, ARI, and Yassa intersections. These junctions are currently undergoing foundation works using crushed stone, an essential preliminary step before laying the base course. The company has deployed specialized teams to ensure the strength and durability of the road platforms, while paving the way for smoother urban traffic.
At the same time, attention is being given to sidewalks, which are vital for pedestrian safety and the proper structuring of public space. Concrete works are progressing both along the main corridor and on the diversion routes—temporary alignments created to maintain traffic flow during construction. The mobilization of necessary materials has enabled a steady pace of work, helping to keep the project on schedule and to prepare for the next stage: the installation of the base course and the application of surface layers.
According to MAG SARL officials, the dual objective is to secure major intersections and provide pedestrians with sidewalks that meet urban standards. These interventions are also helping to reduce the inconvenience caused by degraded road surfaces and alternating traffic on main routes. The works are expected to improve connections with transverse roads and contribute to better traffic organization across the entire Eastern Gateway of Douala.
The company notes that progress depends on the continuity of supplies and weather conditions, but maintains that the overall schedule is being respected. The laying of the base course is planned for the coming weeks, opening the way for the final surfacing and finishing phase. MAG SARL’s intervention reflects a commitment to developing a sustainable urban corridor capable of meeting the growing mobility needs of this strategic area of Douala.
These efforts form part of a broader approach to modernizing urban infrastructure, aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and user comfort. By prioritizing intersections and sidewalks, the project is laying the foundations for a functional, sustainable boulevard that is better integrated into the urban fabric of Cameroon’s economic capital.
