(LVDE) – Since early November 2025, the development and cleaning works of the Magada–Guirvidig base camp are nearing completion, reflecting the commitment and efficiency of the Sinohydro/Stecol consortium, in charge of the project.
The works on the 68.3 km Magada–Guirvidig section are in full swing. In November 2025, the consortium overseeing the rehabilitation has reported substantial progress. On-site, heavy machinery is fully deployed, while the supervision mission ensures quality and compliance with technical standards.
The site has passed several key stages. The construction of offices, laboratories, and housing for both the Community Development Mission (CDM) and administrative staff has been successfully completed — totaling eight finished buildings. The secondary works, including interior finishing such as painting, ceilings, tiling, electrical installations, and plumbing, are also nearing completion. These facilities are essential for ensuring suitable working and living conditions for project staff.
Meanwhile, work on roads and various networks (VRD) is underway, including the installation of drainage channels, fencing of the base camp, and improvement of access routes. This infrastructure will facilitate movement within the site and ensure a functional and comfortable living environment for teams.
Furnishing of offices, laboratories, and housing for the CDM and administration is also progressing. Roofing and framework installations are completed, and six buildings have advanced significantly. The installation of doors and windows is finalized, improving both security and comfort.
Construction of the on-site laboratory is also at an advanced stage. With its structure complete, the equipment necessary for its operation is being installed, ensuring that quality testing can be performed directly on-site — a key asset for project performance.
Tiling is also being installed across three base camp buildings, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. These developments highlight the importance placed on the quality and durability of supporting infrastructure.
Overall, the rehabilitation of the Magada–Guirvidig section is on track. The progress made by Sinohydro/Stecol demonstrates efficient resource and time management. The success of this operation is measured not only in kilometers rehabilitated but also in improved living and working conditions for project teams. The tangible results of this work bring real hope for smoother transport and sustainable economic growth in the region.
