(LVDE) – On November 3 in Algiers, Abdoulkader Dileita, the African Development Bank Group’s Country Representative, presented his letters of accreditation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf. The meeting highlighted the strong partnership between Algeria and the pan-African financial institution.
On November 3, 2025, Algiers hosted a significant event marking a new phase in relations between Algeria and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB). Abdoulkader Dileita, the new head of the Bank’s country office, was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf. During the meeting, Dileita presented his letters of accreditation, symbolizing the start of his mission in Algeria and reinforcing the ties between the country and this major financial institution.
Minister Attaf praised the bilateral cooperation that unites Algeria and the AfDB, emphasizing the numerous structural projects supported by the Bank across key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and human development. He highlighted the importance of these initiatives, particularly at a time when Algeria is striving to diversify its economy and accelerate its transition toward sustainable development.
Expressing his gratitude to the Algerian government, Dileita affirmed the African Development Bank’s commitment to supporting Algeria’s national priorities. “The Bank will stand by Algeria through tailored financial instruments and technical expertise to support its development,” he stated. His mission aims to promote inclusive growth and strengthen regional integration, ultimately benefiting the Algerian population as a whole.
As a founding member and key shareholder of the AfDB, Algeria plays a strategic role in advancing the institution’s goals. The country is considered a vital partner in efforts to build a more integrated, prosperous, and resilient Africa. Through its initiatives, the AfDB works not only to foster economic development among member states but also to improve the living conditions of their populations.
This partnership is particularly crucial in the current context, as Algeria faces major economic and social challenges. Diversifying an economy historically dependent on oil revenues has become a national priority. Projects supported by the AfDB in infrastructure and agriculture are vital for stimulating local economies, creating jobs, and fostering innovation.
In addition, the AfDB has committed to providing technical assistance to Algerian authorities, facilitating the implementation of necessary reforms to support this diversification. Recent initiatives include financing programs for renewable energy projects and investments in sustainable agriculture, designed to strengthen food security and address climate challenges.
The meeting between Dileita and Attaf thus marks a new chapter in the relationship between Algeria and the AfDB, opening promising prospects for the future. Through strengthened collaboration, both parties aim to turn challenges into opportunities, ensuring sustainable development for Algeria and contributing to the region’s economic stability. Ongoing dialogue between Algerian authorities and the AfDB remains essential to ensure that upcoming projects meet citizens’ needs and promote a prosperous future.
