Example of a bridge under construction
(LVDE) – The company SCI Luguy Sarl has been selected to carry out the construction of a permanent bridge over the Mifi River, following a national tender issued by the Ministry of Public Works (Mintp). The project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance the quality of life for local residents.
On July 18, 2025, a national call for tenders was launched, marking a new milestone in the infrastructure development of the Bafoussam region. After reviewing bids from various companies, SCI Luguy Sarl was selected by the Ministry of Public Works—the contracting authority—to build the permanent bridge over the Mifi River. The project seeks to facilitate mobility and boost the living standards of people in the Mifi and Bamboutos divisions, located within the Bafoussam 2nd Subdivision.
The selection of SCI Luguy Sarl followed a rigorous evaluation process, during which the company met all the required quality and experience criteria. The project, valued at 175,339,752 FCFA (all taxes included), will be fully funded through the Public Investment Budget (PIB) for fiscal year 2025 and beyond. This allocation reflects the government’s commitment to investing in essential infrastructure for citizens’ well-being.
The works, scheduled to last 12 calendar months, will include several key stages. For Lot 1, the company will handle site installation, sanitation and drainage works, as well as the construction of the main structure. Additionally, it will be responsible for installing safety signage and other related tasks. These measures are designed to ensure not only the durability of the bridge but also the safety of road users.
This government initiative goes beyond improving transport infrastructure—it represents a strong commitment to rural development and the enhancement of living conditions for local populations. By improving road connectivity, the new bridge will make it easier to link surrounding localities, reduce travel times, and promote local trade.
The construction of the Mifi River bridge is viewed as a major project with the potential to transform the region’s economic dynamics. Authorities hope this new infrastructure will attract further investment, contributing to sustainable growth and job creation.
The choice of SCI Luguy Sarl also sends a positive signal to local companies, demonstrating trust in national expertise. This could inspire similar initiatives in the future, further strengthening the local economic fabric.
With this project now underway, residents of Mifi and Bamboutos can look forward to a brighter future. The construction of the bridge is not just an infrastructure project—it is part of a long-term vision for rural development, which remains a top priority for the government.
The selection of SCI Luguy Sarl for the Mifi River bridge marks a significant step forward for the Bafoussam region. Funded through the Public Investment Budget, the project aligns with the national strategy for sustainable development, aiming to improve people’s quality of life and strengthen key infrastructure. The next 12 months will be decisive for the completion of this initiative, which could reshape the economic and social landscape of the region.
