(LVDE) – Despite challenging weather conditions, the Chinese consortium Sinohydro/Stecol continues to make steady progress in rehabilitating the Guidiguis–Yagoua road. Teams remain fully mobilized to advance drainage works and material supply operations.
On the Guidiguis–Yagoua road rehabilitation site, the Sinohydro/Stecol consortium—specialized in large-scale infrastructure projects—has demonstrated unwavering determination. Despite heavy rainfall, the teams have continued to move forward with the works, showing their strong commitment to this crucial project. Between October 11 and 18, 2025, significant progress was achieved, notably in the production and transportation of prefabricated culverts.
These culverts, measuring 1m x 1m, are essential for ensuring effective drainage along the road. They are being produced directly on-site, allowing for greater flexibility and responsiveness to project demands. At the same time, bitumen supply operations are underway, ensuring that teams have the necessary materials to continue paving activities.
Another key development is the arrival of components for a new crusher, which will facilitate on-site material processing. This step is crucial to optimize the production of aggregates required for road construction and rehabilitation.
The project owner, aware of the challenges posed by the current weather conditions, has recommended making use of the rainy season to finalize execution studies. This includes accelerating the installation of production plants and completing the construction of workers’ camps. By intensifying the production of hydraulic structures, the companies will also be better prepared to mitigate potential weather-related delays.
The rehabilitation of the Guidiguis–Yagoua road holds great importance for the region. By improving transport infrastructure, the project will ease the movement of goods and people, thereby stimulating local economic development. The progress achieved by Sinohydro/Stecol, despite adverse conditions, is a promising sign for the future of this strategic roadway.
With rigorous monitoring and continued team mobilization, the consortium remains determined to complete the project within the set deadlines. The coming weeks will be crucial for the continuation of the works, and stakeholders remain optimistic about the project’s successful completion. The Guidiguis–Yagoua road—an essential transport artery—should soon regain full functionality, bringing tangible benefits to surrounding communities.
