Ralph Mupita, CEO of MTN Group
(LVDE) – Thanks to its commitment to employee well-being and its leadership position across the African continent, the MTN Group has once again been recognized among the world’s best employers for the fifth consecutive year, according to the 2025 Forbes Global Best Employers ranking.
Each year, Forbes compiles an international ranking of the world’s top employers. In the 2025 edition, the MTN Group impressively secured 3rd place globally in the category of Telecommunication Services and Cable Providers. With a presence in 18 countries across Africa and the Middle East, the group has once again demonstrated its ability to stand out among industry leaders, solidifying its reputation as an employer of choice.
This is not MTN’s first appearance on this prestigious list. For the fifth consecutive year, the majority African-owned group has ranked in the top three of its category. Moreover, MTN made a remarkable leap in the overall ranking, climbing from 267th place in 2024 to 166th in 2025 — a testament to its sustained progress. The ranking is based on feedback from over 300,000 employees in more than 50 countries, lending strong credibility to this recognition.
Paul Norman, MTN Group’s Chief Human Resources Officer, highlighted that this distinction is a powerful acknowledgment of the company’s dedication to employee engagement. He stated : “Being on the podium confirms our leadership in a highly competitive industry.”
This recognition, he added, reflects MTN’s continued commitment to fostering a corporate culture built on integrity, agility, and respect — values embedded in the company’s philosophy, “Live Y’ello.”
MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita also emphasized the pivotal role of employees in the company’s success : “This achievement is a reflection of the incredible people who make MTN what it is.”
He further noted that MTN’s employees are the driving force behind the company’s mission to advance digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
With over 17,500 employees across its 18 subsidiaries, MTN’s success rests on the core value “Live Inspired”, which encourages every team member to grow, innovate, and thrive. The company doesn’t just promote its values—it actively builds a workplace where every voice is heard and valued. Passion, dedication, and collaboration are described as the cornerstones of its collective success.
Norman also stressed the importance of nurturing an inclusive work environment centered on personal growth and mutual support : “This reaffirms the importance of creating a workplace based on inclusion, support, and personal development — an environment where everyone can truly flourish.”
The Forbes 2025 ranking not only highlights MTN’s strong commitment to its workforce but also underscores its leadership role in expanding access to digital solutions across Africa. As the group continues to evolve and adapt to market challenges, its recognition as one of the world’s best employers in telecommunications stands as clear proof of its human-centered strategy.
MTN remains a model for companies seeking to combine business performance with employee well-being.
