KRIBI MULTIPURPOSE TERMINAL : Five years of excellence and ambition driving economic development celebrated

(LVDE) – On October 1, 2025, Kribi Multipurpose Terminal marks its fifth anniversary, a milestone that highlights its role as a catalyst for Cameroon’s economic development. With remarkable achievements and expansion projects underway, KMT is positioning itself as a key player in maritime trade in Central Africa.
On October 1, 2025, Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT) celebrates its fifth anniversary—an important landmark underscoring not only its operational performance but also its impact on Cameroon’s economy and the Central African sub-region. Since its inauguration, this multipurpose terminal has emerged as a cornerstone of port modernization, playing a crucial role in optimizing trade corridors along the Atlantic coast.
KMT boasts a natural depth of 16 meters, enabling it to handle large vessels and enhance trade competitiveness. In just five years, the terminal has processed several million tons of cargo, including clinker, rice, fertilizers, and coal. Among its operational records is the unloading of 22,205 tons of clinker within 24 hours—an achievement that reflects the technical expertise and efficiency of its teams.
This success is the result of a remarkable collective effort, driven by the dedication of employees committed to ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction. Their commitment, coupled with the trust of institutional and commercial partners, has allowed KMT to build a reputation for excellence and professionalism.
Beyond operational performance, KMT is also engaged in corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at fostering positive synergies with local communities. To mark this anniversary, KMT launched a Community Initiative to renovate and equip a school near the port of Kribi, reflecting its commitment to investing in youth and strengthening ties with its surroundings.
Looking ahead, KMT enters a significant expansion phase. The recent completion of Phase II of the Port of Kribi has substantially increased the terminal’s capacity. With a new 615-meter quay and an extended surface area of 33 hectares, KMT can now simultaneously accommodate two to three vessels of 80,000 tons each—a major competitive advantage for Cameroon on the international maritime market.
In parallel, KMT has announced the launch of iron ore exports, a first for the country and a crucial step for its economic development. This diversification of port activities underscores KMT’s determination to position itself as a key player in the maritime sector.
