(LVDE) – On August 7, 2025, the financial institution celebrated the closing of the first edition of the WeMentor program, a mentorship initiative carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family. The program aimed to provide women entrepreneurs with tailored training and personalized guidance to boost their confidence and strengthen their professional networks.
The Akwa Palace Hotel hosted the closing ceremony of WeMentor on August 7, 2025. Launched by Access Bank Cameroon in collaboration with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family (Minproff), this first edition lasted two months and benefited ten promising women entrepreneurs. They received personalized support that combined practical training, strategic advice, and one-on-one mentorship.
From the launch of the program on March 29, 2025, the goal was clear: to equip women with the skills needed to successfully navigate a competitive entrepreneurial environment. June and July were dedicated to intensive sessions that allowed participants to deepen their knowledge and expand their professional networks.
During the closing ceremony, participants’ testimonies highlighted the program’s significant impact. Georgette Anaba, regional representative of Minproff, stressed the importance of investing in women’s empowerment: “WeMentor not only provided essential tools for entrepreneurship but also created a network of solidarity. We encourage these women to put into practice everything they have learned.”
Ugochukwu Irechukwu, Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank Cameroon, emphasized that women’s empowerment is a strategic priority for national economic development. “This program is proof that we firmly believe in women’s ability to transform our economy. We are committed to supporting them in their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.
Roger Tamwo, Director of Global Transaction Services and mentor, described mentorship as a shared adventure vital for participants’ growth: “I witnessed their progress and their determination to build businesses that reflect their passions. This program strengthens our commitment to women’s empowerment.”
Speaking on behalf of the mentees, Mrs. Josephine Deng described the experience as “transformative.” She added: “We came with ideas and leave with renewed confidence and a better understanding of our potential. WeMentor gave us more than technical knowledge; it created a true spirit of sisterhood.”
The event also featured an exhibition of participants’ products, showcasing their creativity and hard work. The awarding of certificates celebrated not only their achievements but also the strong network they built over the two months.
As this first edition comes to an end, Access Bank Cameroon reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women-led businesses and promoting inclusive economic growth. The success of WeMentor underscores the importance of such initiatives in advancing women’s empowerment and stimulating nationwide economic development.
By highlighting women’s talents and providing them with tailored resources, Access Bank Cameroon positions itself as a key player in transforming Cameroon’s entrepreneurial ecosystem—paving the way for future collaborations and even more ambitious initiatives.
